TOKYO ? Kirin Mets Cola is being touted as the world?s inaugural health-food soft drink, the New York Daily News reports.

Kirin reports that the beverage has an indigestible form of dextrin that has been used as a fiber supplement and limits fat absorption while eating. Kirin is targeting thirtysomething men who like dining out and drinking but are concerned about weight gain.

Other beverage makers are debuting new drinks this summer. In mid-June, Pepsi is launching Pepsi Black, which contains 50% less sugar and a hint of lemon. Asahi Soft Drinks Co. has begun selling the Bireley's Strawberry Milk drink. Each carton has three strawberries and a splash of apple juice.

Overall, more beverage companies are turning to natural ingredients in their drink selections.
