CHARLESTON, SC and CHARLOTTE, NC ? The Roo, the public voice of Kangaroo Express convenience stores, announced earlier this week his write-in candidacy for mayor of Charleston and Charlotte.

?We believe every man, woman and child deserves to make a break in their day,? said The Roo. ?The people have spoken and you want change. You want hot, fresh coffee, you want mouthwatering donuts and you do not want to go broke enjoying them.?

The campaign is part of the convenience retailer?s ?Fresh Initiative,? a revamp of the chain?s foodservice offerings in Charleston and Charlotte, which will now offer Bean Street coffee, fresh food, bakery items and all-beef hot dogs.

Kangaroo Express is offering a free cup of coffee on Election Day (Tuesday, November 8) to those who vote for The Roo at voteforroo.com (alternatively, consumers can text VOTE to 67777). Everyone who votes will also receive deals including 49-cent Coffee Wednesdays and Free Coffee Fridays.

?We believe in everyone who walks through our doors, the hardworking Americans who grind it out, day after day,? said John Fisher, senior vice president of marketing at The Pantry and campaign advisor for The Roo. ?At Kangaroo Express, we want you to fill your cup high, load your hot dog with extra chili, walk a little taller on the way to your car and show today who?s boss ? it?s time to Get Right at the Roo.?
