COLUMBUS, Ohio ? Wendy?s is showing customers a glimpse of the future in four different design prototypes, Huffington Post reports. Besides Columbus, Toronto; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Phoenix; and Pittsburgh all have remodeled or newly built restaurants.

The burger chain is closely scrutinizing feedback from customers at the 10 locations, and will pick a modified version of one of the four designs as the model for new construction and remodels by the end of next year. The revamping of the restaurants is part of the chain?s overall reshaping of its brand, which began with a new French fry recipe and new burgers.

Denny Lynch, spokesman for Wendy?s, said the design changes were not in response to what other burger chains have been doing, although both McDonald?s and Burger King have revised their restaurant looks in recent years.

Each of the four designs for Wendy?s have a wide variety of tones and looks, such as ultra-modern, urban, traditional and classic. The classic red fake-tile roof has been jettisoned. Tile floors have replaced carpeting in the dining area. Cocktail-style tables and lounge chairs have joined traditional tables and chairs.

Thus far, customer response has been overwhelmingly positive. But Lynch said the company was taking things slowly. ?If you went into the store right now, you'd have a lot of nice things to say. But what about a month from now? Two months from now?? he said.
