GLENDALE, CA ? Nestle announced earlier this week that it has made changes ?to improve? its secret Nestle Crunch recipe, a culinary move that has caused a stir among its longtime fans.
"Nestle Crunch lets fans of all ages feel like kids again, so you can bet they have definite opinions about what we've changed in our secret recipe," said Tricia Bowles, spokesperson, Nestle Confections & Snacks. "Some firmly believe we've made the milk chocolate more intense and rich, while others are equally confident that the rice crispies are packed with more crunch than ever before."
Launched in 1938, the ubiquitous candy bar includes milk chocolate and crunchy rice cereal, a taste familiar to young and old. Its product tinkering was launched with a "What's behind the even more scrumptious taste?" campaign.
So what exactly is different about the new Nestle Crunch? The company is not exactly saying, only fueling further speculation while pointing consumers to its Facebook page to share their feedback.
"We first mentioned our new recipe on the Nestle Crunch 800 number and we've been blown away by the more than 400,000 calls that have poured in from fans," said Bowles. ?We expect nothing less from our fun-loving, passionate fans."
A great, new taste, or a great, new social marketing idea? You decide.
