HAMPTON ROADS, Va. ? BP Oil presented a $20,000 check to support Children?s Hospital of The King?s Daughters? (CHKD) child abuse program for the second year in a row, thanks to encouragement from Miller Oil, a longtime program supporter.

The hospital?s child abuse program coordinates the efforts of all professionals involved in an abuse or neglect case, including representatives from Child Protective Service, the Commonwealth?s Attorney?s office, detectives from local police departments, and medical and mental health professionals.

?We cannot express how grateful we are to donors such as BP and Miller Oil whose generosity has helped us improve the lives of children in desperate need of help,? said Stephanie Adler Calliott, CHKD senior vice president of community relations in a press release.

The companies? generosity was also extended through The Miller Oil Foundation?s 9th Annual Charity Golf Classic. The funds raised at this tournament facilitated grants to additional charities in Miller?s service area. They included St. Mary?s Home for Disabled Children, Hurrah Players, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, Lee?s Friends and Equi-Kids Therapeutic Riding Program.

?We are so thrilled that BP was able to participate as a Mid-Grade Sponsor and Golfer Gift Sponsor at this year?s tournament. We would not be able to give back so generously without their support,? said Lindsay Pryor, The Miller Oil Foundation executive director.
