LOUISVILLE, KY ? McDonald?s has begun testing a PayPal mobile payment program in 30 of its restaurants in France, Mobile Payments Today reports. As part of the program, customers can pay for their purchases using PayPal?s digital wallet and mobile app.
PayPal began testing mobile payment with brick-and-mortar merchants last year, first with Home Depot and later with 15 additional merchants earlier this year.
But adding McDonald?s to its roster offers tremendous expansion opportunities; McDonald?s has 30,000 restaurants worldwide.
PayPal began demonstrating its payment option earlier this year to McDonald?s franchisees. The test is limited to France for now, and PayPal has not said when or if it will expand the test to other areas.
